MSSC Alliance - Medical Society of
    Sedgwick County Alliance

Welcome to the official website of the Medical Society of Sedgwick County Alliance (MSSCA). Founded in 1928, we are a volunteer health organization with more than 200 members, working independently and in cooperation with more than 1100 physicians to serve the greater Wichita area, in Kansas.

Our mission is two-fold: promoting good health in our community and forging strong bonds within the family of medicine. We partner with our local Medical Society to support, educate and connect with medical families, advance the medical profession and champion community health issues.

The MSSCA encompasses many facets.

  • We build friendships within the medical community. We meet on a monthly basis on the second Monday of the month (from September to May) over lunch. These working luncheons allow us to forge friendships with other medical families who have similar interests, problems, and lifestyle. Please refer to the calendar to view up- coming general meetings.

  • We provide educational opportunities through our general meetings and leadership conferences. We publish a monthly news letter; the Advocate that keeps us further connected and broadens our understanding to various issues involving the field of medicine.

  • We have ongoing projects and community service programs. With the support of dues, we are able to fund projects such as:

  • Meals on Wheels

  • Environmental concerns

  • Health promotions in the classroom

  • Medical Service Bureau

  • Project Access

  • Holiday sharing card

  • Obesity action group

  •
  • We also participate in fund-raising projects benefiting various non-profit charitable organizations as well as providing scholarships to medical students

  • We are on the forefront and involved in legislative issues pertaining to medical issues. Our legislative committee educates our members and the general public on medical legislation and keeps us up to-date on the many health-related issues facing legislation.

Our local Alliance is one part of a three tiered national organization. The state affiliate, Kansas Medical Society Alliance (KMSA), gives our members a multitude of   benefits, including opportunities for building state-wide friendships, leadership training, and fundraising. At the helm is the American Medical Association Alliance (AMAA). AMAA is dedicated to promoting better health, ensuring sound health care legislation, and fundraising for medical education.

Membership is open to physicians and spouses at all stages of career development: medical student, resident, practicing and retired physicians. You are welcome to inquire about membership and any of our meetings and projects by contacting us through the link available on this website.

You are needed, wanted and welcome!
